Yas Remote Learning

Dear Parent/Carer,

I hope this letter finds you and your family well and hope you are managing the challenging times we are currently living in.

As you know, information about the COVID-19 situation changes daily and it impacts our lives greatly. One of the recent announcements from the government is that students will not be returning to school on January 18, as previously thought. At this time, an alternate return date has been announced that children will not return to in person learning until after February half term at the earliest. As such, we are moving to a new model of live lessons each day from Monday 11th January.

Implementing an online education requires a partnership between parent, teacher, and student. You will have a more active role in your child’s day to day education. Your student will take on more personal responsibility for their work and our teachers will need to communicate more with you and your student, not only through email, but also in person. We believe that communicating in person is extremely valuable and as such we have planned for a live classroom session every day. Routine will be the key and we have set up our plan to provide as much routine as possible for your child.

Classes will meet every school day during the scheduled times listed below. We will be using the program “YAS.SCHOOL” for our live classroom times. During our meetings, teachers will connect with students, provide an encouraging word, review key concepts and answer any questions regarding schoolwork.

While set “class times” will be held, teachers will regularly send learning activities and assignments via YAS with corresponding due dates. Please communicate and support your students to work in this environment. You can also find your student’s daily assignments by logging into your YAS account. If you are unable to log in to your account, please email irischool@gmail.com and one of the staff will help you get connected.

Our teachers are HERE for you and your child! We want this to be an easy and smooth transition for everyone. Please let your teacher know if your child is struggling, or needs to talk, or if you have questions. We know there may be some challenges in the first few days as we move to an online environment. Please communicate any challenges or concerns you may be experiencing to us.

The health and safety of our students and staff is always our number one priority. We are working hard to develop a plan to provide and support distance learning for our students.

This timetable is for Monday and Tuesday, we will sent a complete one later.

All students will be registered daily at 9:00am, this will impact their attendance – students must attend this registration period.

Please active your microphone.

Please have your notebook and pen ready during the class.

Please respect the setting and be dressed as you would be for school.

Yours sincerely,

Head Teacher
